Touch Tank

The language, textures and forms of the natural world guide my hand in my studio every day. Dreaming of the Florida landscape and the marine ecosystems of the Atlantic, I create abstract sculptural paintings and installations using oil/acrylic paint, collage, and digital fabrication techniques to build worlds. Starting from an exploration based approach to research, I visit beaches, nature centers, aquariums, and labs, to explore the structures, colors, and movement of the organisms and ecosystems I am encountering. The primary subject of my current research is coral and fungi, as their networked lives and complex relationships within environments is a fruitful starting point for developing work about interconnectedness and the wonder of experiences in the natural world.
