Projects
Invasion
Explores the concept of invasive species and alienation by exploring the commodification of "exotic animals" in Florida. For this body of work I utilize oil paintings on wood panel and wallpaper.
Fragile Systems
Employing a research and process-driven methodology, my work responds to the ecosystems around me, preserved collections in museums, and research conducted by marine biologists. By gathering information from these sources, I translate my sense of awe and gained knowledge into abstracted biomorphic site specific installations. Through the artwork, I capture the essence of my subjects and grapple with themes related to curiosity, introspection, and environmental awareness.
Membranes/Membranen
Membrane/Membranen was a body of work created during my residency at Institut für Alles Mögliche in Berlin, Germany, during June 2024. Breaking down the code of patterns I created and then translating them to digital collages and small paintings, the work questions how we are connected through digital and natural networks throughout the globe, regardless of locale.
Metamorphosis
What would happen if insects grew human adages and started reclaiming over developed areas of the United States? How would we respond to this extreme re-wilding? By combining wallpaper as a decorative element and using surreal human sized insect paintings, I develop a narrative about environmental change and overbuilding.
